Confession

I have a confession to make...

I have fallen off the blogging wagon!

Sad, I know.

But alas, I am back (or at least I am trying to be back!)

My life has been rather boring and consumed with school over the past month. I have been trying to keep my head above water and to make it through. Only one more month, then I can start clinicals and start to challenge my brain in a new way. I am so sick of memorizing random information and facts, I am just ready to use my brain and the information I have been memorizing in a different way!

Running has been going well. I finished my race series that (all 10 races!) that I have been a part of since July. I would like to try to do it again next year, all 10 races again, but I would like to shave between 30 minutes to an hour off of my total time (totally a manageable goal...for now). Saturday is my last half marathon for the year of 2010. That will make 5 half marathons in the year (my new years resolution was 1) and 6 half marathons total. 2011 marks the year of my first marathon. It will happen if I like it or not because I am going to run 26 miles for my 26 years of life. Running 26.2 miles scares the shit out of me, but then again, at one point in my life running 13.1 miles also did.

Thanksgiving was a good, relaxing time spent with my family. I swore off my diet for the day (and the 2 days after) and still managed to lose 2.5 pounds in the week! I am ready to start eating like a dieter again so that I don't fall off that wagon as well.

Well, back to studying I go. I will try to update again later this week.In the meantime, here are some party tunes to keep you entertained!

30 Day Challenge: A Lot of Days in One

Day 24:  Something You've Learned
I have learned some interesting things lately about myself and about life in general. One is that the Kidneys and Renal System are the worst things ever. I mean you need your kidneys to function in every day life, but why do they have to be so needy and complicated?!? They are worse than men. Two is that dieting and losing weight isn't really as hard as I once thought. I have been making excuses for over 5 years (ever since I turned 21 and put on 21 pounds) for reasons why I do not need to diet. Then a few weeks ago I came up with ONE reason why I do need to diet...to run faster. And that brings me to my third (and last) thing that I have learned lately, I can/am able to run a half marathon faster than I thought I could. In the race series that I have been competing in I have yet to run a race at under an 11 minute mile pace, until yesterday. Yesterday I ran a half marathon (13.1 miles) at a 10:32 pace. That is over 30 seconds less per mile than any race thus far! And, if I didn't start the race like a rock star running 9 minute miles, I possibly could have averaged at a faster pace. Yup, I rock (like you didn't know this already).
Day 25:  Put your ipod on shuffle - 1st ten songs

1. Cold Play "Violet Hill"
2. Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds "Cry Frredom"
3. Mat Kearney "Nothing Left to Lose"
4. Keith Urban "Only You Can Love Me This Way"
5. Dave Matthews Band "So Right"
6. Sean Paul "Get Busy"
7. Beach Boys "Good Vibrations"
8. Mr. Big "To Be With You"
9. John Mayer "Heartbreak Warfare"
10. NSync "Tearin Up My Heart"

With that said, I must say I have quite the odd mix of music in my iPod and in my life in general.

Day 26: A Picture of your family

No.
Day 27: Pets

Hailey. My muffin of love. The love of my life.

Day 28:  Something that stresses you out

School. And my everyday life.
Day 29:  Three Wishes

 1. To win the lottery
2. To finish school. Forever.
3. To be done with this God forsaken 30 day challenge

My last wish comes true tomorrow, yay! This 30 day challenge seemed like an awesome idea when I started, but now I am just finding it to be a pain in my ass. I would much rather blog for the sake of blogging rather than answer these boring questions, but I am too stubborn to give up on something that I have started...

Keep it Classy San Diego.  Until next time.

A real post.

Today marks the two year mark of a day where change was brought to America. Change that a lot of us were excited about when it was talked about. I use "us" and "were" as key words in that sentence, because, yes I too was convinced of this "change". However, in these past two years, I cannot tell you of any change that has occurred (except for maybe healthcare) that is phenominal enough to say that this change is what we needed. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I regret any decision to vote for this said change or to say that if I could go back that I would vote for the other candidate, because I wouldn't. I just feel like elections and election campaigns are nothing but empty promises and selling of oneself to people who do not know what to think or believe (the people who do know what to believe for the most part cannot be convinced to vote in a different direction). Campaign commercials are the PERFECT example of selling oneself while doing nothing but putting down your opponent in the process. Why, oh why can't we all just get along??

Off Soapbox.

On a similar note. I DID NOT vote today, but not by choice. I do not read directions all the time, and evidently the State of Tennessee has a solid process to weed out the idiots that live here who do not read directions from voting. Evidently when I attempted to register to vote I checked a box that indicated that I fully admit that I had been convicted of a felony without pardon. So, the lovely state of TN does not actually run a background check on their residents, instead they take my word for it and tell me that I am not allowed to vote because I have been convicted of a felony without pardon. Imagine my thought process when I opened a letter (fully expecting it to be my voter registration confirmation) to find out that I cannot vote because I am a felon. (when was I arrested? was jail so fun that I don't remember it? what did I do? was that so much fun that I don't remember it? boy, I sure hope this is a big mistake!) So, I call the office of voter registration to find out when I was convicted of a felony and why I did not know about this, and they have one thing to say to me..."When you were filling out the form, you indicated that you had been convicted of a felony, the only way to fix this is to come to the Downtown Memphis office during regular hours to re-register." Well, that would be great if I lived in Memphis to fix this, since I do not, I was unable to fix it and vote in this election. Now that everyone knows that the State of TN is awesome at checking backgrounds of voters, if you live here and have been convicted of a felony but still feel like your voice should be heard, check "no" on the form. Simple, right?

I am so ready for this semester to end. I spent all day today planning dream vacations that I will never be able to afford in effort to keep my thoughts off of the length of time I still have left in school and the length of time that will be spent after school paying for school. Ugh. I hope everyone is having a funtastic week! Love!
